The adidas Manchester Marathon is set to return on Sunday 27th April as the one of the largest Marathon events in Europe.
Last April, we saw the successful return of the adidas Manchester Marathon bringing a fantastic £5.4 million boost to the local economy. The event was attended by over 32,000 people, who came to achieve personal goals and also to fulfil charity fundraising for causes close to their hearts. The event raised an amazing £3.5 million for multiple local and national charities, and donated thousands more to local clubs, groups and organisations who volunteered at it.
We hope the information contained within the following section will assist you with your road closure queries.
If you require further advice, please email roadclosures@aso-uk.com. We will aim to reply to your enquiry within 48 hours.
In addition to the email address that is currently available (and will remain so over the event weekend), a resident & business phone line will also be available if needed Friday 25th April – Sunday 27th April. This will be released closer to the event.
Road closures will be in effect along and immediately around the adidas Manchester Marathon route, and those roads in the surrounding area that are open will be very busy so please plan extra times for any journeys you need to take. Many bus services will also be diverted due to these closures.
We recommend using Metrolink to travel to and from the event as there are several stops close to the event village, start line and finish line in Trafford. For further details, please visit www.beenetwork.com/manchester-marathon

Please see the interactive map below for road closure information, and temporary vehicle crossing point details. Please note that in some unavoidable circumstances the opening times for crossing points may be subject to a short delay. We are hopeful that we will be able to deliver this service on time.
Please find the interactive map for the 2025 event below.
Access to the Manchester Royal Infirmary and the other Hospitals on that same site adjacent to Oxford Road will be unaffected by the Marathon Road Closures. Buses will still operate along Upper Brook Street throughout the weekend.
The two car parks will still be accessible throughout the weekend from Upper Brook Street, onto Grafton Street and onto Hathersage Road. Due to the road closures in place around Manchester on Sunday 27th April we advise people to allow extra time when travelling to the hospital as journey times may take longer than usual.
The Manchester Aquatics Centre will remain open throughout the weekend, access to the venue will be via Booth Street East only as the footpaths along Oxford Road (from Booth Street East to Grosvenor Street) will be closed from 8am Saturday – 11:59pm Sunday. The Car Park at the front of the Aquatics Centre will be closed.
On this page, you will also find a range of specific area maps and leaflets containing detailed road closure information. These maps are available to share, download and print as desired.
